ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest
Ekaterinburg has won the right to host the 2014 World Finals of ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. Competitions will be held from 22 to 25 July.

The Association for Computing Machinery annually holds the so-called АСМ Computing Week. The program of АСМ Computing Week includes conferences on the main areas of computer science, exhibitions, demonstrations, meetings of young programmers with prospective employers, etc.

One of the main events of the Computing Week is the ACM-ICPC World Finals. The ACM-ICPC traces its roots to a competition held at Texas A&M University in 1970. Russian universities participate in the contest since 1993 and become medalists regularly. For example in 2011 the team of the Ural State University (Ural Federal University) won the bronze medal. As a rule more than 100 teams from 83 countries participate in the contest. Each team consists of three contestants. The championship is sponsored by IBM.
