On Thursday, the 18th of June, 2009 the Head of Ekaterinburg Arkady Chernetsky supervised the improvement process of the third stage of pedestrian area in Vainera Street, as well as construction of the walking esplanade adjacent to it.
The builders manage the work on the extension of «Ural Arbat» in conjunction with the construction of a third set of trade and entertainment center «Greenwich». Last year the city authorities started to build an underground foot crossing in Radishcheva Street and made the possibility of further development of Vainera Street. This year, by the Day of the City (August, 15-16), all the work on the improvement of the third stage of the pedestrian zone of «Ural Arbat» is expected to be completed.
Another birthday gift to the residents and visitors of Ekaterinburg will be the walking esplanade, which will connect the residential housing area, adjacent to «Moscovskaya Gorka», with a quartet of streets Vainera-Radishcheva-8 Marta-Kuibysheva. Executed in the form of walkways, joint with flights of stairs, the esplanade will go from Sheinkmana Street to the square in front of the main entrance to TEC «Greenwich», i.e. it will join the being reconstructed section of the Vainera Street and merge with the central pedestrian zone. Its length will be 580 meters, and about 6 meters wide.
The Head of Ekaterinburg Arkady Chernetsky by checking the state of affairs at the facility, made sure that the first part of the esplanade, located between the streets of Sheinkmana and Sakko-i-Vantsetti, had already been fully prepared. It is a dark-red stone staircase. Then promenade area will be more sloping, with a minimum number of steps. It would be decorated with colorful tiles, benches for rest in stone pockets, and flowers.
It should be noted that the construction of the esplanade, as well as the extension of the pedestrian zone along Vainera Street, implemented in Ekaterinburg in the strategic project «City for Pedestrians». Its goal is to create a comfortable and safe pedestrian movement to the citizens and guests of the capital of the Urals.
