Baby-boom is continuing in the Urals

Following the results of the first five months of 2009 in Middle Ural children were born on 900 more than for the same period of last year. The chief of the department of mutuality to mothers and children of Ministry of Health of Sverdlovsk region Svetlana Tatareva has told about it. As she said, the birth rate in Sverdlovsk region in 2008 was above all-Russian.

The similar tendency is observed this year. At least, the quantity of registered expectant mothers in antenatal clinics has not decreased. The director of Ural research institute of protection of motherhood and infancies (RI PMI) Vladislav Kovalev has noticed that following the results of last year birth rate in Middle Ural made 12,4 per 1000 people. High indicators are caused by that people who were born in the mid-eighties of the last century are at reproductive age now.

Then baby-boom was fixed on all the country: to 80 000 kids were born in Sverdlovsk region annually and the birth rate made 18 on per 1000.

Last year demographers have fixed «echo» of the past when 53000 children were born in Sverdlovsk region.

Let's add that following the results of five months of 2009 (the data for half a year is not brought yet) 244 twins, 6 triplets were born in Sverdlovsk region. 9000 children became the second in a family, two thousand - the third, 776 Sverdlovsk families had the courage to give birth the fourth, the fifth and the subsequent children. Average age of women in childbirth in the region is 27 years.
